Is your home next to or in the Colorado forest? If so, don't be surprised if you see a rise in your insurance rates.
Insurance companies are raising rates for Colorado homes that are in the red zone. This means that if your home is directly next to a forest, or is hard to reach then you most likely will see a rise in your rates. It is also speculated, that some insurance companies may require homeowners to take measures of “defense” in addition to raising rates. “We expect you to take steps if you live n a high-risk wildfire area” says Carole Walker, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association.
